Mission

“NYLC was created “by youth for youth”. We are leaders and advocates who experience a disability. We travel the state promoting disability awareness and educating our peers on transitioning to college or work.”

Leadership

We learn from each other and share what we learn with people outside of our group. Being a part of the group has helped us become more confident and better leaders. Most importantly though, we HAVE FUN!

Self-Advocacy

Developing self-advocacy and community leadership skills are useful in adult life. Council members learn about how to identify and react to bullying, how to self-advocate or speak up for themselves. Of course members get to socialize, make new friends, and have fun together!

Mentoring

Members range from age 14-24 and age out on their 25th birthday. Older members coach younger members on advocacy, presentation skills and how to be a leader of today!
